Weekly Judgment Roundup


The value of judgments registered in Ireland against companies and individuals rocketed to more than €31m this week as the taxman, credit unions and banks turned to the courts to ensure debtors met their financial obligations, according to StubbsGazette.

There were 103 judgments registered and the single biggest judgment was registered for €11,982,023.34 against David Crowe, of The Oaks, Tullig Spa, Killarney, Co. Kerry. The creditor in this case was the National Asset Loan Management Ltd., Dublin

The Collector General was among the most active in the courts, securing 35 registered judgments valued at €1.46m. The largest judgment taken by the Collector General was for €366,766.38, against Patrick O’Connell, of South View, Agharinagh, Lower Dripsey, Co Cork.

Credit Unions took 15 separate judgments against their members which amounted to over €801,582.63 worth of bad debts.

The top judgments were taken by St. Canice's Kilkenny Credit Union Ltd., Kilkenny for debts of  €298,846.60 and €264,857.64.
