DISGRACED solicitor Thomas Byrne is the most prominent name on the latest list of registered judgments, while a €280,000 sum against a Corkman marks the biggest award.

The latest issue of debt monitor 'Stubbs Gazette' shows Mr Byrne, who's been at the centre of court cases involving tens of millions of euro, has now been hit with a €4,000 judgment by Eircom. The judgment was registered on July 23 in the High Court and lists Mr Byrne's address as 78 Walkinstown Road, Dublin 12.

At the bigger money end of the scale, Thomas Whelan, with an address at 'Stormy Down', Windsor Hill, Glouthane, Co Cork, was at the receiving end of the week's biggest judgment. He had a €280,000 judgment registered against him by Wicklow-based International Food Services Ltd on July 23.

The next biggest sum was registered by the five partners of Dublin legal firm Gallagher Shatter against Dublin businessman Michael Casey.

The quintet registered the €143,000 charge against Mr Casey, of 32 Abington, Malahide, Co Dublin, on July 29.

The latest 'Stubbs Gazette' also lists three five-figure judgments registered by AIB, one for €75,000 against a Louth shop manager, and two for €20,000 registered separately against two Dublin builders.
